Community Management

Deakin Game Development Group

Summary

I was an executive of a student-run group called Deakin Games Development Group at Deakin. My duties were organizing events and activities to develop a strong GameDev community at Deakin and to provide opportunists for aspiring students to develop their portfolios and their networks.

Contributions

  1. InDevelopment - A Game Developers Social Night - organized by   In Collaboration with RMIT's Blue Light Collaborative and Swinburne's Behind the Game student groups. First of its kind in Melbourne.

  2. Employability in Games/IT - Lecture by Yan Chernikov - EA Melbourne @TheCherno.

  3. Open Lab Sessions - A weekly meetup for the members of the club to meet with each other and work on projects together.

  4. Game Jams - Helped in organizing various game jams we hosted twice a year during Summer and Winter.

Other Contributions

  1. Monthly Newsletters  - I edited and compiled short blogs from the other executives on all aspects of game development along with other interesting resources, into a newsletter which was distributed to the club members. This was stopped after a few months due to busy time schedules. Here is a link to the releases: Link

  2. Posters: For most of the events I designed the posters for advertising the event. These are listed above.
